Woodburning pen/kit

I want to buy a woodburning pen or kit. My primary use would initially be for signing bowls, etc. I may eventually want to use it for embellishing bowls. Does anyone have a recommendation? I am thinking of the Detail Master brand.

Steve I don't know that much about them - I have done some wood burning in the past and wished that I had the variable temp one - All I can say is make sure you get one with that - Let us know what you come up with

We have the Colwood Super Pro, it is very consistent, easy to use and burns as light or dark as you need. There are a lot of different tips for it and you can even make your own tips with just the holders and wire that you can bend and/or flatten. It has two cords that you can switch so you don't have to keep switching tips while you work.

Here's the full kit with replaceable tips.

How about a $25 Harbor Freight car battery charger on a 600 W dimmer and some nichrome wire. Thats what most of the people in our club use. People that have the "official" woodburning setups and made one of these homemade kits like this homemade setup better. Graeme Priddle from New Zealand did this first and I learned from him.
