Not mine, etc.

Wood shop for sale - $7,000 (Clayton NC)

Not sure if they are willing to sell items individually or not, but there's no junk in there.

Maybe I am wrong - but that seems almost cheap to me for what is being offered?!

I sent PM this morning to them asking if they would consider splitting up. We shall see

Let me know what you find out. I am interested if they are willing to split.

Do you see $7000 dollars worth of stuff there? I don't

I dont think it's the deal of the century, but that helical head jointer, 14bx, and tablesaw would make a solid dent in 7k. And festool pricing is simply nutty.

I would be hard pressed to pay that for a package price unless I somehow wanted and needed every single item, though, I agree.

Sigh, I often wonder how many years before I take that fork in the road and sell it all.
I was thinking exactly the same thing, although most of my stuff will attract the garage sale / Harbor Freight crowd asking "will you take a dollar for that?" rather than collectors and "True" future woodworkers!

The new price of the jointer alone is $2,290 plus $99.00 shipping. The bandsaw is $1,599 plus $99.00 shipping. The planer $1,095 +$69 shipping. The table saw is $1,995+$239 shipping. That's almost $7500 without tax and we haven't even gotten into all the Festool stuff, the lathe, the miter saw, dust collector, etc.

The Festool TS 55 EQ Plus is $675 without any track. I'm not sure which Festool vac that is, but that line starts at $640 and goes up from there. The DeWalt miter saw has got to be over $500. Not sure which model Delta lathe that is, but it's over $700 with another $200 for the stand. The dust collector is 600.

That's over $10K not including the Festool sanders and whatever track saw rails he has, and it all looks pretty new.

There is also the Festool HK 55-EQ-Plus (retail $605). That's another $300 assuming half price, so $6142 total. With accessories, he's priced it all at almost exactly 60% of retail for very new looking stuff.

I personally know of no one that has outfitted a woodworking shop in one fell swoop. I've heard of people buying the remains of shops that were allegedy bought like that but those stories were pretty sketchy as to source. I've helped a few widows of friends clear out the estate woodworking shop. Its always the hope of the seller to get a buyer that will pay top dollar in cash and sweep the floor before they leave. That's very rare. Most of that stuff is pretty basic for a beginner shop so most potential woodworkers will already have a certian percentage of that equipment.

I think that would be very fair... if he were splitting it.

That lathe would be nice...

This discussion is interesting.
Just some of my observations;
@Robert166 thought the $7000 was high, (I didn't think it was a "Deal" but somewhat a reasonable price for what was being sold...)
@bob vaughan thinks these are "Basic" tools for a beginner and I thought they are quite a "Step-up" from what many of us start with... and maybe even the tools we currently have...
Then @Echd said "that lathe would be nice" and I was thinking "Well he didn't turn much or he would have a nicer lathe! (based on what I thought was a higher level of tools for the flat work he did) LOL
As @bob vaughan pointed out he has some nice curly or quilted stock, so the Shelix jointer and planer were likely more out of necessity...

It goes right back to everyone's perspective is so different, from our backgrounds, and where we are in our woodworking journey and in fact the tools we have versus the ones we want...

My curiosity is why... is he (or she) simply moving and can't take the tools? Did someone pass and they have to disburse the estate? Just curious... like @Willemjm said, when I saw it I was thinking 1. I hope I am dead when it happens to me and 2. I hope "she" gets what some of the stuff is worth and 3. The auctioneer better not "lump this stuff together since it takes too long to sell each item! (That might make me rise right back up!)

Hah, the only high level woodwork I do is making serviceable lumber into sawdust!

(My only lathe is a 1/2 hp jet and I know only enough about turning to be a danger to myself and everyone within bad-catch-errant-projectile range)
