This discussion is interesting.
Just some of my observations;
@Robert166 thought the $7000 was high, (I didn't think it was a "Deal" but somewhat a reasonable price for what was being sold...)
@bob vaughan thinks these are "Basic" tools for a beginner and I thought they are quite a "Step-up" from what many of us start with... and maybe even the tools we currently have...
Then
@Echd said "that lathe would be nice" and I was thinking "Well he didn't turn much or he would have a nicer lathe! (based on what I thought was a higher level of tools for the flat work he did) LOL
As
@bob vaughan pointed out he has some nice curly or quilted stock, so the Shelix jointer and planer were likely more out of necessity...
It goes right back to everyone's perspective is so different, from our backgrounds, and where we are in our woodworking journey and in fact the tools we have versus the ones we want...
My curiosity is why... is he (or she) simply moving and can't take the tools? Did someone pass and they have to disburse the estate? Just curious... like
@Willemjm said, when I saw it I was thinking 1. I hope I am dead when it happens to me and 2. I hope "she" gets what some of the stuff is worth and 3. The auctioneer better not "lump this stuff together since it takes too long to sell each item! (That might make me rise right back up!)
