I saw this on CL so I e-mailed the seller. See his response below My space, needs and $$$$ are limited so I can't handle all this. If some folks want to get together I would be interested.

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mat/442055934.html

E-mail from the seller:
$5 sq ft for the walnut approx 100sf,
$3 sq ft for the ash approx 10sf,
$15 sq ft, for the mahogany 100sf approx (this is
beautiful solid 8/4 stuff).
Will sweeten the deal with misc. short pieces. Will
take a total price if you clean me out, misc. pieces
of white and red oak ,maple teak, cherry, Cyprus .
Lots of shorts. I really want to clean out the wood
rack since I don't do wood working. The wood was
purchased from my father-in-law a retired wood
exporter. All wood was kiln dried at world wood inc.,
cove city, NC and kept in the barn for the last 6
years.
Thanks,
Ø Tony

Hey Scott,
I am sure that this stuff that the guy is selling is nice....but the prices do not seem all that good...at least not to me...not for CL.
I am guessing when you say sq ft, you mean bdft?

Jeff just had a Raleigh run of kiln dried black walnut for less than this guy is charging.
In fact, Jeff had more Walnut here than people could buy.
Heck...if you do not need it right away, this next run of Walnut will be 1.80 a bdft.(not kiln dried)
Jeff might bring back some of the other, kiln dried walnut for you also if you let him know.

And for 3.00 a bdfoot of Ash? The guy only has 10 bdft and I can buy all the bdft I want ...all day long for 3.50 a bdft at East Wake Hardwoods.

I understand wanting a deal...heck, my wife says I am the cheapest soul that ever lived.
But my personal feelings are this...
Jeff is already beating the prices, in most cases, that this guy has.
Jeff certainly has a greater supply...and will continue to have a greater supply.
And by our supporting his efforts in these lumber runs.., we help him in sales and we ensure a continued supply of above grade species of wood at a below market cost.
And that goes not only for Jeff..but also others here on NCWW that try to get us deals.
Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes 'craft wood' is sold by the square foot, rather than the board foot. Since this craft stuff is anywhere from 1/4" to 3/8", to maybe 1/2", the cost per board foot would be really high. The ad doesn't seem to say how thick the wood is, so it's hard to tell if this is a good price.

Michael, believe me I totally support Jeff and the others on the NCWW:eusa_clap:eusa_clap. In fact I bought wood on Jeff's last 2 Raleigh runs and will likely get some more on his next walnut run:eusa_danc. I agree this prices are a bit high. I was just bring this the everyone's attention incase there was others interested.
