Bloodwood or Padauk? Or something else?

Put a small amount of finish (oil is best) on and see how the color changes. Padauk tends to darken to almost black while bloodwood will retain a red color. The end grain will change the most.
My bet is also padouk.

That is padauk no question. Just drill a hole and look at the dust it will be orange Blood wood will not

Definately Padauk then. Already been working with it and sanded. Dust was orange. (Made a chess board, see my other post)

Beautiful piece of wood David! I heard just the other day someone tried to smuggle in some exotic woods by disguising it as heroin.............................

It looked very similar to this at first, but as soon as I began to sand, it was orange below the surface. Sawdust was very orange.
What you making? I haven't worked with the blood wood yet but project coming up real soon... But I assume that sanding, drilling, etc... That it will stay the same dark reddish color all the way thru
