Earlier this week Nate, a friend and fellow member, contacted me about a maple tree that fell down near Sanford. The guy needed some help cutting it up and hauling it away. So Nate, Chris from the Raleigh Turning Guild, and I spent the morning cutting. And I'm glad I did. It was curly from top to bottom. Some rot in the base but we got several nice blanks from it. I can't wait to turn it and see how the curl looks in a bowl.

This is about a quarter of what we cut up this morning. Still more to cut up.

Those are two handsome devils.

Tommy, be careful with the tornado trees ,if the snapped instead up being up rooted, there could be stress cracks up the entire thing the could make things dicey.

Thanks, was not aware of this. I was more interested in a few large limbs that have been cut off so hoping that area would be safe.
