Okay guys, while I believe you and when I bought it I knew it was Cherry...but when I mentioned that fact to the guy at the lumber yard, he told me it was birch..."just like it says on the label!" He looked at me as though since I was a woman I couldn't know CRAP about wood. Oh and I paid 7.00 for a 4x4 panel for my drawer fronts.
It's actually cherry ply.

birch has been and still is used as a cherry substitute in many cabinet shops. Alder is also a wood of choice.
