Hi everybody, not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just wanted to let everyone know that our store, Nice Figures Studio and Lumber Sales has moved from Chapel Hill to the coast. We are now located on the crystal coast in Salter Path, NC. We've leased a larger building and now have a gallery to sell the things we make along with our highly figured woods and burls. Stop in to see us when you're on the coast.

Thanks, Paula

Nice looking place! What made you consider that location for your business??? shipping must kill you for any lumber orders.

Hi NC Pete,

We really didn't want to move we had some very good customers, artist, furniture makers, instrument builders and of course the turners were great but we needed to expand the size of our building and we were running into a brick wall trying to expand our business / building in Orange County. Even though we have 9 acres in the country we found that we were in a Rural Buffer zone and as such we couldn't have a retail store of any kind. We've gone round and round with the county for over a year and were getting nowhere. We already had a house in Salter Path so we decided that if we were going to have to move our business we might as well come to the coast. So here we are. I'm hoping most of our business will be point of sale retail and not too much shipping but we will ship things if you can't get down to the store to pick it out yourself. If your at the coast, burnt to a crisp, and tired of looking at sea shell shops come on in and get your wood fix.

Re: Change the "Directions" on your website

your website directions still shows the Chapel Hill location. You should change that. I was trying to figure out where Salter Path is, but I still don't know.

Hey Paula and Sharon,

I really miss y'all. :crybaby2: I'm still turning some of that spalted maple that I got a while back. Hope to get by there soon to check out the shop. I wish y'all all the best in your new location. Please let me know if you ever need anything.

We were waiting to get our new sign so we could update the pictures and everything on the web site. We'll be getting it updated in the next day or two. Moving has been a major ordeal....we had more wood than we thought....we moved three 24' long enclosed rental trucks plus some....
Salter Path is on the southern most island of the outer banks, between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle.
Bob, did you see my question about the pen parts? Hope that maple is making some nice pens. Post some pic's

Alright!!! More woodworkers on the coast!! Woo-hoo!! I will try to get out there as soon as I can. Based on the other postings it seems you have a great store. When will you be open for business?

Also, do you sell items on consignment? I am a woodburner that is always looking to move more products. My site is listed below. Please lemme know if you are intrested. Thanks!

Hello Sharon & Paula,
Wishing you great success in your new location. I get out to Morehead City area now & then on business and will stop in. I was so impressed with the quality and figure in the stock you carry, with many instrument grade pieces. Some of the nicest wood I've ever seen. Good luck and keep up the good work...

Are you up by Willis'es seafood?

I was down there 2 weeks ago but dont remember seeing you. My inlaws have a mobile home behind the old IGA food mart and I'll be back down in 2 weeks. Will stop in and say hello.

Hi Bryan,

I'm amazed at how many people I talk to from the triangle have a place down here. We are in front of Willis Seafood (on the main road) we just got our sign so you probably didn't see us. Our official "Grand Opening" with the Chamber of Commerce is on July 11 but we are open now. We live about a 1/4 mile from the store so if we're not here just call and we'll open up if we can (919-923-1433 cell). We've got some great Australian Burls, finished and unfinished slab mantels, lots of turning blanks, and a large stock of Birdseye and Curly Maple along with everything else. We'd love to see everyone...thanks for the well wishes.
