Weirdness????

In a reply that I typed to Chris 99Z71 about his wife being pregnant in the summer. I used the word "Suck(s)" because it does (so I've heard) and when my post was published the wording came out as "Rocks". I don't think that my post had been edited, the Mod log shows nothing. I understand the push to change from "Suck" to "Rock" as our signature congratulatory saying, and I agree with it. But we can't ban the word "Suck" altogether, because face it some things in life do suck.

It seems that only the word "s-u-c-k-s" is being editted. Not as bad as I first thought, but still too extreme IMO.

I think I would agree that a total ban on a particular word is too extreme. Perhaps this could be added to the 'job responsibilities' for moderators that Steve is developing - moderate for the proper use of some words that could be offensive if used in some contexts and not offensive if used in another context.

I didn't do it I promise, I too think a total ban of the word sucks would be too much. I am the one that spearheaded the change to rocks as some of my friends asked me why we always told people that they suck. There are times that the word sucks would probably appropriate to use.:dontknow: Hey, it did it to me in this post too

The new kid on the block agrees you can't just ban a word. Well maybe a few you can but this would not be one. You would need to see in what context it was used. IMHO
