There has to be a Tom Hintz acquistion forum! Some of his items for sale go so fast that if you blink there gone! Well the rest of us deserve to know where these machines find a home! For instance:

Who was the lucky person that got the Powermatic dust collector?

Who got the Incra Router set up that was gone in less than 60 minutes? and

Who got the Powermatic planer today?

Inquiring "weak" minds want to know!! :gar-La;

I detect a twinge of WGD jealousy! It wasn't me, but I gotta agree -- they disappeared so quick I never had a chance to look at their details! Somebody will fess up!

I volunteer to be the moderator for this new forum. It's a thankless, ungrateful job, but somebody has to [STRIKE]buy tools[/STRIKE] do it.

I was kinda thinking that maybe only moderators only can see it? That would seem better to me.

How about establishing a 3 day waiting period, after which there could be either a drawing or a bidding war???

As I recall they were:

a $1200 Powermatic dust collector that sold for $500

A $1500 Incra Router set up that went for $500 and

Powermatic planer(?) with accessories ($2400+) for $1300!

I only wish I had a bigger shop and the $ and I would have bought some of it. I wish he had sold that Jet joiner/planer combo. I wouild have been all over that! :toothy9:

There were probably listings I missed.

My accountant frequently suggests the bidding deal, especially around quarterly tax times... I'm usually pricing them to get them out the door before the next truck shows up. I have a new to the market Jet shaper in the works right now that we might try the bidding on - if I have some time.

FYI(everyone) I try to post this stuff in the mornings. I just never know for sure what mornings.

Tom, while I feel Doug's pain, I enjoy a certain level of randomness. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you don't. Mandatory waiting periods, bidding, it's all very fair of course, but dumb luck and clean living have to count for something.

(Speaking of dumb luck, why hasn't JET informed me I won the contest last month? Is their mail that slow?)

I'm usually pricing them to get them out the door before the next truck shows up.
It's a good thing you're such a nice guy, and you offer the equipment to folks here at such great prices, or I'd absolutely hate your guts! :rolf:
("I'm having SUCH a bad week. It took three days to sell that Powermatic Binford 5000 instead of the expected two, so it was really tough to maneuver the Incra Gruntmaster X series into the shop") I'd rather have you write more articles for http://www.newwoodworker.com/ than spend time setting up auctions.

Hey Doug - maybe you can volunteer to be Tom's official inventory auctioneer. Just remember, that doesn't mean buying everything for yourself :)

Doug-------if it is any consolation, I was about 30 minutes late on the edge sander. And life goes on.

Hey, I am not disappointed, honestly. I do not have room for these tools. I am grateful that Tom makes these available at such good prices. I am just having fun! :gar-Bi Don't change a thing.

I've been late on the last planer and the dust collector...but I got the Powermatic Mortiser! Yeah, Tom has me on this check every hour every day of the week and I still miss them. This morning I saw the planer/moulder with about 14 views, but didn't have the funding so didn't even try! But thought about it all day!

When I bought the table saw from him I didn't have the funds at the time when I told him I wanted it.

I somehow knew I had to get it, I'm so glad I did.

Yeah, that saw was a great deal! At one time I even thought I would start a "Tom Hintz" savings account just in case I was one of the first of the ad viewers, I would be sure I was prepared! But, of course my WGD pretty much leaves me short on spare cash when the REAL DEAL comes around! I'm pretty sure most of these deals go VERY quick! And I for one am very appreciative of the opportunity that Tom gives us! Thanks Tom!

Gives me special pride to be the owner of a THUT (Tom Hintz Used Tool). Not unlike finding a Stanley Bedrock in the box :eusa_danc

Let's hope Felder, Laguna, etc., start seeking Tom's review.
He'll need to get rid of the WMH stuff

Another satisfied customer,
Roger

I love and at the same time hate to see Tom's postings. I cringe thinking, "should I buy it, should I wait, if I do buy it, how do I explain it to the LOML", then it is sold and I KICK myself for waiting.
