Waste blocks

I have a habit of ending up with short pieces of wood when I trim a board for a project. I got in the practice of making waste blocks if the piece of scrap was at least 3" long, so I could make a 3" diameter waste block. Before chucks got prevalent, these would be glued to the piece to be turned and then screwed onto a faceplate. Nice to use if making a platter or dish since you won't lose any thickness for a dovetail recess for the chuck. I find I have a bunch of these blocks. If anybody has any interest in them, let me know or else they'll be relegated to the kindling pile.

I frequently use waste blocks when turning. Always looking in the scrap pile for useable materials.
