Here's a half stock 50cal rifle. The barrel is a tapered piece so the octagon is 15/16 at the breech plug and just under 7/8 at muzzle. Its a little tricky to set up the barrel channel. The mounts on this one are "iron" like most of the early hawken rifles.
This rifle doesn't have the hooked breech system so the barrel stays in the stock most of the time. Unlike other Hawkens I have made, this one is easy to build and it will last a lifetime with minimal upkeep. I really like this rifle in walnut but most customers want the fancy curly maple stocks. I like them too but.. they were not the standard rifle from the Hawken brothers.
