Thanks to everyone who voted and to Klingspor for sponsoring the contest.

I still don't understand the lack of participation here, 170 views and only 22 voters.

April's contest had 430 views and only 29 voters.

What can we do to get more people involved?

For my part, I have not seen links to cast a vote so just thought maybe voting had closed or was only for corp members. Maybe it’s less obvious on the mobile version of site how it displays? It’s been that way since I started here. I’d suggest a site admin or mod insert on every entry a prominent link to vote - bold, underline or italicize the link to help it stand out. Or I’m totally missing something. Well I guess I’ve missed something:

Just looking at June Rules - This contest will end June 28. Voting will run June 29- 31.

Besides no June 31, the limited time frame is imho the issue with lack of voting. I’d suggest an ongoing voting from June 1-30 - fine to hide the voting until it’s over to avoid any bias that may ensue if there is a heavy favorite early on that may turn users away from bothering to cast a vote.

Tom, Michael has the entries in one post, then has a second post for the voting.

This actual post was titled "Vote now...". It is a poll where you cannot see how others have voted until you cast a vote. Entries nor voting is restricted, meaning member can submit an entry and and any member can cast a vote.

If the limited time to vote is a concern, then maybe we reduce the number of contests and allow the follow month to collect votes. Or maybe allow entries for 6 weeks, vote for 2 weeks.

As Mike noted, 170 members viewed the post, yet only 22 took the time to cast a vote.

Based on the June post, there are 4 weeks for submissions, viewing etc. But only 2 days for voting. I can see keeping the monthly contest but maybe try some different formats like submissions for 2 or 3 wks and expand the voting to 1 or 2 wks. Winner announcement can be the following month with the next contest rules. Or eliminate the monthly to have a rolling series. It’s just my opinion that the lack of voting is due to the tight timeframe.

That's a good point. I'll talk to the other board members and see what they think about extending the voting time to one week. Thank you for the suggestion. Any way we can improve this I'm up for it!

Another idea is to stay monthly with contests but start voting for previous month at start of following month - delays awarding winner by one month, but maximizes voting period - although a lot of us are getting older so too confusing, maybe? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, you can always formulate a few improved voting scenarios and put them up for a vote 😬
