Ed,
Sorry to hear the news. I had the same thing happen to me only 3yrs ago. I had 22yrs in the textile chemicals field and 16 of them with the last company. I, like you, had started a part-time ww'ing business. I again like you pursued the tool rep thing without much luck. The one tool job I interviewed with went with the youngest, hence the lowest paid. They don't pay well BTW. Then I tryed part-time @ WW'ing store to get the tool discount. The hours there interfered with my ww'ing business. I then got an entry level lab tech job with a long commute. I quit after 4mos and rented a building and set-up my woodshop. I work harder now than ever before but at the end of the day I have done what I enjoy. I've said all this to say, I've been there and feel your pain. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to come by my shop anytime.

Thanks Rob, I may take you up on stopping by your shop! Sounds like you've already been down the path I'm on!

Ed, that could turn out to be a bummer. Or they may put you in another position at the company. If that is a bad fit, it still gives you pay while you examine your options.

Don't look back, look forward.

Ed,

I too had job trouble's, along with my wife, two years ago. A company merger, and a company downsizing, was ready to put both of us out of work at the same time. She got offered a good job down here, with a relocation package, and we left NJ. Leaving friends and family were hard, but it was time to go. For my wife, two young daughters, and myself it was the best thing that ever happened. I love NC and hope to stay for the rest of my life. But I found out that change can be good. I would never move back to NJ, but if I had to move again I now know that I could.

You didn't seem happy in that job anyway, so hopefully this is the path to a new future.

Once again, good luck,

Jimmy:)

Ed,

We should talk. You mentioned a field rep position- not sure if you mean sales or service. I oversee operations for Cefla Finishing in High Point. We make very high end sanding and finishing equipment. I am in need of a few more Field reps to install and service our equipment. Lots of travel all over the US working on our equipment in cabinet, furniture, and boat shops. You would need a solid electro-mechanical background. Let me know if it sounds interesting.

Either way, best wishes in your job search. I have been there before.

Regards,

Larry Nelson
