Hello All,

This morning was not one of my best! Or it could turn out to be a great day! I'll have to wait and see. When I went into the office this morning, I was met with the GM and HR Manager who informed me that because of the downturn in the market they were eliminating my position!

Thought I'd send out a quick post to see if anyone knew of any opportunities in the Charlotte and/or Hickory area.

Thanks!

Ed

I am always sorry when people hear this kind of thing. You may have mentioned it before, but what did you do or what kind of opportunity would you be hunting?

Ed I'm so sorry. This could be the break you needed to get your business up and running full steam! I would be more than happy to help with any projects you get going.

Turn it into a positive!!!!

Hey guys! For the last 17 years I have been in the quality control field, primarily as a customer/supplier liaison. I also started a company doing small remodel and cabinetry projects for the last couple years.

I was actually talking with Jeremy Saturday and mentioned that I'd like to be a field rep for one of the tool manufacturers. Seems like that would be a great career! Since woodworking has become a passion, I'd really like to be in a related field!

Ed ... I'm sorry to hear about this, but after our discussion on Saturday I think it might just be a sign with a very positive & lucrative ending. Use this opportunity to dig deep within yourself & put your best foot forward. Find something your passionate about ... and don't chase that short term dollar ... in the end you'll be happier!

You know my thoughts ... start your own business (but remember to build a repeatable model that doesn't require you to be there to make $$$) or find a position in a company you respect & make something big out of it.

Of course ... I still think you'd be a great woodworking teacher! :icon_thum

Ed,

I know it hurts when changes like this come... all of a sudden... I wish you the best in finding the next position. That idea of manufacturer's rep does sound like a nice one. I met a DeWalt rep the other day and was told that they have to go through a "university" to learn all about the tools and their use before they start working in the field. I think the training would be every bit as much fun as the work. Maybe make you a better woodworker. I wonder if any of these outfits offer a nice employee discount...

good luck

Ray

Ed,

You might want to PM a user over on Woodnet called Rock2car. I know he used to be an engineer with Delta and I think he may still be in the business but I am not sure what company he is with now.

Thanks Jeremy, I have been thinking about our conversation quite a bit this morning!

Ray, I'm planning checking in with the tool manufacturers and see if anything is available! I think it would be a great position with some extrinsic benefits!

Thanks for the tip Bill! I'll definitely send a PM to him!

Hi Ed, I know this is quite a blow to you right now. I'm sure you will bounce back soon. I only talked to you for a short time the other day, but I can tell you're an energetic guy with lots of ideas. Hang in there, I know you'll make something happen.
