Yeap I've got two more cherry burl's.Went and cut these down a couple weeks ago.I've got another one to go get.It's in the crotch of a cherry.Sorry about the bad pic.

do you have to cut the center out of a burl??? does it even have a burl???? or can all of it be used??

It's hard to tell just how deep it goe's until you cut into it. But you still have to have the heart "pith" of the tree.

Good looking burls there Robert. I've got my eyes on some here in the neighborhood but haven't had the time to contact the owners to see if I can cut 'em down for them yet. One nice cherry tree right up the street is about 20' or so tall by about 30" at the ground and darn near solid burl from ground to top. That thing looks like it has leprosy or something from all the knots and balls on it. I'll try to get a pic of it and post it so you can drool over it.

Geeez Robert, how many have you collected so far? Get that camera working and get some of those posted in the classifieds! You have at least a few new gouges there!!! If you keep collecting them like that you'll be able to trade those two lathes in for a big gold one!:icon_thum
