Hey All....
I saw that we have a new member (Tuna1943) who has posted 15 different items for sale. He somewhat sporatically put them in different forums and used a different thread for each one. I consolidated them into the buy and sale category and then moved them into one thread.

I am posting this here so you can all be aware of what action I took and to potentially discuss if it was the correct move. From my perspective, it was a bit of an abuse to have them in different forums and all separate threads, so that's why I took the action I did. I also question the guys motives...will we see him after this? His prices look awfully high ($1700 for a Drum Sander?) also.

Please let me know if you think I abused my moderator POWER!!! :)

Ah..I just noticed that his phone number (area code 978) is in Boston. Perhaps we should remove the post all together? It appears he may not be properly representing himself as a NC'er.

Let me track his posts and see where he is really posting from. It'll be later in the day though

Dave thanks for the info. He may be a nice guy, but I still think he abused things a little by posting all over NCWW like he did. Maybe he didn't know any better.

He wouldn't be the first, not to know where to post. His IP comes back to NC so no problem there. I've sent him PM and why his tel # is in MA.

I really don't think he is doing anything intentionally wrong.

BTW, we should make sure that everyone knows that posting in the general Buy/sell can be done without registering.

Yes, I have seen the actual saw. He is in Roper, NC. His friend recently died (owner of the cabinet shop) and he is helping the widow sell off the equipment. I didn't think it appropriate for me to post those personal details about the death which is why I didn't say anything.

He's from Boston and using his cell phone so that the widow doesn't have to deal with the sale. It's all on the up and up.

Who wants to consolidate tonight's tool offerings. For some one who says he doesn't know how to use a computer, he has found out quite quickly how to start a thread and change font size :roll:

That was exactly what I was thinking. I would be willing to bet that a number of our members, if polled, would not know how to change the font settings. Anyway, I was going to consolidate the latest few, but figured I've had enough interaction with him:director:...He pm'd me, to which I replied. If nothing else, I got him to post in the correct forum. :eusa_danc:icon_thum

(update - I guess I was wrong...someone had just moved another message, so I guess I can't take any credits...haha)

BTW...what's so funny about this guy's phone number??? he always puts rotf after it...:)

Ok guys....How do we handle this? See the last post by Henry. I think this is a liablility to have someone post directions and their address on here. He is opening himself (and us) up for trouble.

I would put that post into moderation and send him either or both a PM and e-mail telling him to send that info directly, via PM, to the member who inquired about it.

I already PM'd him and offered to delete it or at least edit it. I will put it in moderation.

Good call on moderation. The only thing that can come of posting your address, email, or phone number is spam and more likely than not these, an aid to identity theft. I can only just imagine the bots crawling around looking for this information.

Keep us posted about what he says. Most people don't realize the implications of posting that sort of thing.
