Planning to buy a better miter guage for my table saw, one with a hold down etc. :icon_thum

What do you guys use? Just looking to upgrade from the standard piece, as affordably as possible, and not have to "jolt the economy" to pay for one. Impossible? :eusa_thin

Thanks for your thoughts.

I go an Osborne EB3 from Santa this year and really love it. It is solid and dead on accurate and a breeze to set up and use. Just my two cents worth.
They have a good video on their web page.

I've got a Incra 1000SE, and it is great. I have never had that level of precision before.

But it doesn't come with a hold down clamp. I haven't missed one as I haven't ever used one, so I don't know what I am missing.

Woodcraft carries this - http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=4225
But I don't think it would be much of an upgrade from a stock miter gauge...except for the clamp.

I find that I have no stock movement using the wider face of the Incra in conjunction with the flip stop on top of the piece being mitered.

Hey Reg,
I just picked up the Incra 5000. Hartville has it on sale and has free shipping. I like it because you can use the miter sled or just the miter gauge by itself. A little steep, but I like the Incra stuff.

I got the Osborne last year and have been real happy w/it. AS previously mentioned by Tracey, it's easy to set up and rock solid.

Biggest reason I was considering a hold down is doing dado's. Need to keep it down tight so they come out clean and flat. Guess a featherboard would do the same thing, but some of our dado cuts are 3+ inches in width. ????

I have the Incra w/o the fence and I like it just fine.

David

Me too! The Incra 27 is a great mitre guage without bells and whistles . . . but you can add your own. I recently added the Peachtree fence that is a cheapo version of Incra fence. Haven't used it yet though :confused_

Review pending,

I have never met a miter guage that I didn't HATE. When cutting long pieces they need a longe fence and then they ALL have some flex.:realmad::realmad::realmad::kamahlitu:kamahlitu:kamahlitu

And I promise you I have some of the best ones made, or at least the most expensive:rotflm:

I have the Incra 1000se and barely use my miter saw anymore, except for really long boards. It finished first in a magazine review last fall (Pop. Woodworking??) The Kreg finished second and was priced ~$50-100 more.
The 1000se has my vote.

"NARM" on NYW uses the Osborne. Good enough recommendation for me and then Dan recommends it. WOW!!!!

I have the Osborne EB-3 and echo the comments by others. Solid, accurate, and easy to use. :icon_chee My ONLY (very minor) gripe is how to store it when its not on the ts so it doesnt get bumped around. :icon_scra Cant have scratches on my ride! :eusa_danc

I, too, have the Incra and love it. However, I also have the one you are talking about,I think. It has a pistol grip handle with a bar that clamps the piece down. go to Grizzly web page, look up item # G1822. It is $34.95.

Well, after delibertion, cogitation, frustration, and commiseration, I ordered the Osborne EB3. :eusa_thin

And this was after a late offer from Pappa Smurf for a JessEm. :confused_
Oh well!

Got to keep the economy growing, right?

You will enjoy the Osborne, Did you look at the online video? I am an amateur wood worker and can make near perfect miters with the Osborne, and the price LOML paid. 109.00 on sale, I think Santa got a good deal. It is nearly foolproof which I need!

Post pics when it comes in.
