Woodguy mentioned that I have been building two of the trestle bases for his workbenches. I figure WTH... if I can't make one for myself, I may as well make 'em for someone else!!!!

Well anyway, here they are!

They're made of some oak that WG got for cheap because of some mineral staining. Dowels are walnut. The trestle on top of the table saw was just wiped down quickly with some mineral spirits to see the actual color.

Here's some more trestle porn for your viewing pleasure...

Monty, that is just fine looking work. I would be proud to stick one of those under a laminated slab and hang a vise or two off of it. Nice neat work. Pretty work!:icon_thum

Very nice!!

"Brown" should be showing up in your driveway shortly with a big bundle of wood.

"Brown" will come back by on Monday to pick up my new workbench base!!

DUDE YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

They look totally awsome. I'm going to have to get more danish oil.:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

That just rocks. You can't imagine how grateful I am for the help. They look absolutely perfect. Of course you get to reap the benefit of them. Now I've got to laminate up the Walnut for the aprons and get those other two tops done. I figured walnut with the oak bases and walnut dowels would look primo. I know the bases look that way already.

They look perfect. You've really become a talented woodworker. I think John owes you an ice cream or something. :)

BTW, benches have to be the most enjoyable thing to build. I love working with big and heavy slabs of wood and pushing the machines to their limits.

SC clears out unactive accounts from time to time. I guess you qualified as inactive.

Welcome back.

You did join. If fact you were a "Charter member". But I prune the membership regularly of people who haven't logged in 90 days.

Insom, that is some mighty fine looking work. When you get around to making yours, you'll have great practice. I am amazed that someone let that Oak go for cheap because of some mineral stains, it's beautiful, and I'm not the biggest fan of Red Oak.
