Man I need a trailer. My pickup just doesnt cut it, need something to haul lumber and equipment. Would like something like 16ft, flat bed, double axle that can handle some weight. Have owned many boat trailers but never an equipment trailer.

Any tips on what to get and where to get it? Been trying to find a used one. Anybody got any tips?

My dad has one just like you are describing.... He wants to get rid of it but the only problem he lives in Florida.. He said he only wants $800 for it. I would think you would be able to find one just like his for around the same price alittle closer to home.

A tip on the axles: If the wheel lugs are 4 bolt, its probably a 2000 lb axle, if 5- 3500, and if 6 probably 5000lb. This isn't foolproof, but is pretty much standard. The rating /condition of the tires is also important. Look for the tire max weight rating and use the tire condition as part of the bargaining for the price (if used). If its dual axle and has brakes on one axle, the brakes should be on the rear axle. A 16' dual axle should have brakes.

Thanks for the tips on the axles, something I didnt know. Seems most of the trailers I see are light duty landscape trailers or equipment trailers that have 2 ramps for tractors, cars, etc, with the bed sitting below the wheel wells. I would prefer the bed above the wheels so a forklift can load from the side.

I am going to take a ride to Lincolnton today to check out what a dealer has new.
