As many of you know I often get "stuff" to get rid of and I offer it up to fellow NCWWs. Most recently I was able to give away some black granite and that seemed to go smoothly.

This time it is a little more than some stuff, it is an entire house with four outbuildings. A very good friend of mine needs to clear a lot in Cary.

Ok here is the deal subject to owner approval:
  1. First the house is being checked for asbestos and the owner will deal with before anybody else enters.
  2. The owner will provide a large dumpster for deposal of items you do not want. ie: if you want the floor boards you will have to get the carpet up and into the dumpster - seems fair enough.
  3. You will have to sign a waiver agreement in case you are hurt in this process.
  4. We will have to organize so that we can get this done in a reasonable time period.
  5. I will be giving Habitat first chance at the doors and windows
  6. The outbuilding 1 which is 16 x 24 may have a $ value. I have not been inside yet but if it looks like it could be disassembled easily than I might want to consider having it go to a top bidder.
  7. The electrical service has already been cut so a generator may be required
  8. The septic system is already filled in - a port-a-potty may be required.
  9. We have a demo permit is in hand
  10. Some trees onsite are going to go. The lot is 6 acres of mostly pine with a few oaks.
If you have an interest please indicate so by either email (preferred) or pm, however I may not be able to respond this weekend.

If there seems to be enough interest, the owner and I will futher define the process required.

This is the homestead that my friend grew up in and I am hoping to save something and make a keepsake from it. I will be looking for suggestions.

I forgot the main house is from 1901.

Nice offer. But it hurts me too badly to see old houses get torn down. Could y'all consider moving the house to another site? Or give it to someone else to move. In fact y'all can move it to field next to my house!:gar-La; I'd be glad to restore it.

I know that moving this house was considered but found to be to very expensive. If you know someone who wants to move this house off the lot that would be great.

I will be too far away, else I would take you up on your offer. Of course, this keeps me out of trouble with LOML, on two fronts.

Sure would be a shame to see that nice looking old house torn down. That could really make someone a beautiful home.
