Ok now that I have your attention. The wood gods smiled on me this week.To start I found a LARGE burl on the side of the road. Then won the erc from Jeff. Thanks again Jeff! Then on Wed. went and cut down a LARGER burl . Man that thing is Huge. I can't even get a 5ft. tape around it. Now here is the question. Do I need to strip the bark or not:dontknow:. I don't wan't to mess it up. But I know it will be a lot harder to strip when it dries.I've got a great place to store it in the dry:eusa_clap.

Oh man, sorry to hear about the cat.

Hopefully Kyle will chime in on your question, but I left the bark on the piece you gave me and painted the ends and exposed face. Seems to be working ok.

Robert,
The Black Walnut Burl that was given to me dates back 40 years forward and I have had no problem removing the bark. Then only problem I am having is I am going to have to buy a bigger bandsaw to resaw it. GEE! That means I got to have surgery again!!

Thanks Terry the burl I've got is cherry. I talked with a guy yesterday. He said he would strip the bark and seal it. Almost tempted to go ahead and get it slabbed out first.:dontknow:
