At the suggestion of someone else - I'll take a little time to introduce myself.

I'm Tim and I live in Troutman, NC. I have lived in the NC in the Lake Norman area since 1993. I grew up in SC in Spartanburg/Greenville area. I moved here after graduating from Clemson with a mechanical engineering degree.

I started working with Ingersoll Rand in 1993 in an engineering position and worked there through 2001. In 2001, I left IR and moved to Greenville, SC to work for GE's Industrial Turbine division in a more analytical and hardcore component development role. I learned a lot there, but quickly found that Finite Element Analysis wasn't what I wanted to do for the next 5-10 years. Somehow, I ended up taking another position with IR back in the Lake Norman area early in 2003. By 2006, I had become dissatisfied with a few taspects of my role in the corporate environment and decided to try a career change. Thus I am presently a project manager for a small home builder in the Lake Norman area. I guess I am still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up!

I tend to have more hobbies than I have time. I have a pilot's license but gave that up due to the time and money commitment required. I still fly RC planes and helicopters so I can satisfy my interest in flight. I have not been active in woodworking very long, but I watched and helped my father througout my childhood as it was always a passion of his. I'm still collecting all the tools I need and my garage has to do double duty with sawdust and ocassional oil change or other routine car maintenance.

Look forward to getting to know everyone.

Tim

Tim,
I'm not sure what to make of you - a Clemson graduate! All of my Dad'
s people are from clemson, and I have several uncles and cousins still there. My wife is from Anderson, where we are going Tuesday to spend the week with her family.
Anyway, welcome to the club.

Welcome to the site. I've always wanted to learn to fly RC. Closest I came was getting a glider in college. It's first flight was about 20 seconds. That was it's last too. I would still love to learn. Please feel free to jump in and offer advice, ask questions. Oh.. we love pictures, so be sure you give us a stead diet of your accomplishments.

Private pilots license for me too! gained in UK many years ago. Not current for the same reason as Tim - not enough time and thin wallet. Gave it up when mortage interest rates went to 17% in the UK:BangHead:

Wecome Tim. FEA - gotta love it! there are a few of us CAD nuts on the forum and I occasionally use basic FEA for stress analysis on my woody projects.
