I'm assuming that you're using "Gallery embed." If you're selecting individual pictures, I don't believe that you can. If you select an entire album, however, it will display the thumbnails.

when you insert a picture, under the message box, you should see an item like this:
Screen Shot 2021-02-18 at 6.48.35 PM.png

I usually delete the main item in the message and then click on 'Thumbnail'.

Neal, HOW are you inserting a picture?
When I click on either one of these in the taskbar:

now I do notice once I insert the picture below my post there is an option (which I never noticed until now...)

O.K so I didn't read all of Neal's instructions - NEAL: I usually delete the main item in the message and then click on 'Thumbnail'."

So trying this again...
WIA.jpg

I clicked on "insert image" and dragged the image from my pictures on the computer, selected thumbnail and deleted the "Big" picture...
Seems like more monkee motions than should be required to post a picture...

That is the camera-looking icon

in the tool bar next to the insert image icon (the description pops up when you hover over them...

BTW, I am doing this on a Windows laptop - I would guess it is different if you use a different device...
