My introductory thread is here: https://ncwoodworker.net/forums/index.php?threads/thomas-jefferson-bookstand.69932/

I'm nearly ready to install the butt hinges after the top is trimmed to width on the table saw. I guess I'll need to mortise the hinges that I got from Horton Brasses or Whitechapel Ltd.

Pic 1 is the bookstand from Monticello. Pic 2 has the hinges and showing the mahogany "box" sitting upside down on the top. Pic 3 is the box without the top and sitting right side up.

Thanks Wayne. Slowly coming along. It's a lot more complicated to assemble the pieces and hold them together but I anticipated that. It's kind of like a jigsaw puzzle without joinery and glue/screws but I'm getting close to the end.

Roy Underhill's video is interesting but he doesn't give much detail about the actual construction. He did send me his plans so at least I had some dimensions and drawings.
