The Shenandoah Valley

Last week I had the pleasure of view the Shenandoah Valley from the front seat of my truck. What an incredible drive. My neck still hurts from driving forward and looking right and left. If you've never been and you're not part dumb 'ole country boy (or farm boy) it may not be a trip for you. I left wanting to find a grant for creating a photo barn tour of the entire 100(?) miles.

And when I got home, I found this coming out of the back of the truck....

I think this might have just turned into a gloat!

Not familiar with that brand but I definitely like it. A lot going on on the drive end, not sure I understand it (wires/hoses/air chuck?). Looks well built.

There is a lot going on there.

I have heard of Stubby but know nothing about them.

Is that bottom rail removable for larger bowl turning? Can you get longer rails?
What is the maximum bowl size?

Funny the things you can pick up along the way when you’re out driving. Oh and yes there is lots of beautiful country south and west of DC.

The mounted air chuck is a vacuum port. Pulls a vacuum through the spindle. The "air hose" is actually flex conduit between the inverter and motor.

The bottom rail slides away from the headstock on the turret making a bed gap and is removable. However, the banjo mounts on the rails There are two rail slides. You can mount the second to the headstock or to either side of the rail in the turret and at either end, both sides. The tool rest mount can mount to either end of the (2) banjos, i.e,. there are two mounts. A lot of options.

Max bowl should be in the range of 24-26".

The Stubby is very stable as in heavy; all cast iron. Took a bit of rigging to get it off the truck without hoist, lift, forks, or help.
