It was great to listen to all of your advice. It is now Friday and the Poll is considered closed. Project #2 was the landslide winner. The order for materials will be placed next week. Full plans and a write-up during the whole process will take place. If anyone is interested in building one with me at the same time I will email you the plans when I am done. Thanks for helping me get my creative juices flowing again, I'm excited about getting into this one! I also will start another thread putting in the suggested information and we can discus topics on how its built. God bless you all my friends.

Well I received a challenge from a good friend of mine to get off my hiney and make something (other than the cabinets that Pete and I are slaving away at) So what I want to do is take a Poll, my friends at North Carolina Woodworker will decide on which of the four projects will be built. Maybe an admin can do one of those fancy poll things!! So take a look at the pictures, two of them are renderings of my own, and the other two are classics. Let the votes begin and we will make it together! It’s an open floor where wood, finish, construction, and machining will be open. Be blessed friends.

Project #1 James Krenov cabinet
Project #2 Birdseye Maple Hall Table
Project #3 Small Kitchen Hutch
Project #4 Hall Seat and Coat rack

Once decided complete plans will be made, with construction renderings (they will be my version so they will be available for anyone!) I am not leaning toward any "ONE" project. So let’s take a poll and see what North Carolina Woodworker would like to See built.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

Number 4, I like the panels on the lower unit, the arch on the back that mates with the wall hung unit, but do not like a dark finish on the interior of the wall hung unit.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

Good feedback, So if it turns out to be number 4 or number 1, what stock should be used? Cherry on the number 4, and Spalted Maple and Teak on number 1?

My vote was for the hall table, I like the design and the contrasting woods.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

Number 2 is a beautiful piece, but number 4 could be just as pretty and is the one which (I'm guessing) will have the greatest impact on your life. Hall seats and coat racks are amazingly useful. We've even had our architect design in a place for something like that in our next home's plans, so I'm voting 4.

Does SWMBO get to break any ties?

Todd

PS) What is the color scheme, woods and trim in the area number 4 would go? That'd help people decide what woods to suggests.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

SWMBO doesn't care any way it goes, she looked at all of the designs and said which ever! I was thinking of maybe using cherry on #4, or could even go the other end and use Tiger Maple, its all on the table right now, if you have a good suggestion throw it down. JUST MAKE SURE YOU VOTE ON THE POLL AT THE TOP,,lol Be blessed friends.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

I had to throw my vote for the Krenov cabinet, because it would be a challenge and very different from normal cabinet building. But I would have to say all would be fine projects, and I would chose the one that would be most useful in your home. I would like to make more furniture but I no longer have the room for any more furniture, so I tend to gravitate towards the more artistic pieces.

LOL, I think that there is always some kind of tool purchase in every project!! But I'm leaning to wards some really nice hand tools on this project, maybe a nice Veritas smoother or something similar.

So far the votes are leaning to wards Project #2; I am getting prices from Wall Lumber and a couple other places. I am thinking that I will follow this poll until the end of the week and then make the order over the weekend and get this project going. Be blessed friends.

Re: NCWW decides!!!

I had to go with Number 2. It's not overly large/cumbersome to deal with and has a few challenges that would make it an interesting adventure (for me at least).

Re: NCWW decides!!!

#2 is taking a lead!! Lets see how the numbers work out for the rest of the week!!! I wonder if I would be jumping the gun in starting plans for #2? If #2 is the one polled should ebonize white oak or should I use full blown ebony? Whats the thoughts?
