The finish was harder than the woodworking

Been a while since I posted anything here. Sorry for that. So my best friend's wife is a physical therapist, and a bit of a hippie. She asked if I would make her a new transfer board. There is nothing exciting about the woodworking but I decided to try and mimic a tie dye stain on figured maple. That was a bit of a challenge but I think it came out ok.

I made 3 colors of water based stain. Yellow, orange and red. I stained the whole board yellow. then added orange and red streaks trying not to let the colors bleed together too much. Once dry several coats of spray can lacquer. Let dry, sand and more coats. I then let it cure for 2 weeks. Wet sanded to 800 grit then buffed to a high gloss.

Well done ! If you wanted to go full hippie you would have to use more colors :D

BTW, Prep and finishing is always time consuming

Takes me back to Mr. Natural and Yellow Dog Comics. Gotta go crank up some Steppenwolf.
