The wood is Corrugata Burl, from the Outback of Australia. I sanded to 3000 grit, and it has one coat of Lin-Speed finish on it. Very rock hard stuff. I had to sharpen my inside bowl scraper about every third pass. This piece started out as a 8X9X4" burl cap, white on the outside, brown on the inside. I was able to retain a little live edge around the top rim, and a little down one side.

nice piece!
The aussie woods I've tried certainly take their toll in sharpening time but as you show
the results are worth it

There is something wrong with the bowl. The outside is a little out of shape. Send it to me for disposal. :gar-La;

Seriously, beautiful piece.

That's one stunning bowl! Like the gorgeous burl and the natural edge. Your finish is flawless showing those wonderful grains and figures. Excellent job!
