INCRA IBOX

The INCRA iBOX is a revolutionary new jig system that can cut perfect box pins on your table saw or your router table. As you can see the iBOX body is designed around a symmetrical extrusion that has been hard anodised to create a low-friction frame that can be configured to run on a left or right tilting table saw or router table.

The first time you use the jig you need to adjust the glide-lock mitre bar so that it is a snug fit in the cross slide groove. This patented INCRA system then creates a stable, chatter free platform ready to be zeroed in to your cutter. The next step is to set the datum to zero by adjusting the indexing pin so that it just touches the blade (referred to as a “kiss”). You are now set to cut a multitude of box pin variations from 3 to 20mm in width in end grain, side grain and even plywood.

The core innovation in this jig is a dual pitch lead screw that adjusts the width of the indexing pin while automatically moving the whole pin assembly the exact same distance from the cutter. Gone are the challenges of machining a key the same size as your cutter and then sneaking up on the blade until you get the distance right. The iBOX automatically adjusts itself so that the pin size always matches the size of the cutter. This means that it does not matter if the cutter is metric or imperial, brand new or has been resharpened several times, the spacing will always be perfect.

The 60 minute DVD that comes with the jig details how versatile the system is. Creating wooden hinges (in concert with the INCRA Hingecrafter) is just one of the many applications of this system. Another application is the production of dental detail strips that can add flair to a cabinet lintel. What was great about the Aussie write-up is that they did a great job (the best one yet!) describing the "kiss" calibration, how the mechanism works and what that means to the user.

When are you gonna stop by for a shop tour and pickup the filter bag?
