Imagine a mahogany tree that grows as straight and fast as a poplar.

That is where this is heading. Weyerhauser has been doing genetic hybrids for years and their Lyptus product is a cross of two prolific species of Eucalyptus. The Lyptus can grow 100 feet, 14-18" diameter in 12 years and that wood is HARD.

Very cool article. My wife does research along those lines at State. But not with anything cool like trees :crybaby2:
