I wanted to post a proactive thank you to Doug for the hard work and long hours he puts into organizing the shop crawls. This coming weekend will be the third crawl that I am aware of. I attended the Charlotte Crawl and am looking forward to the crawl this weekend. Doug was presented with the friendship pen on the Charlotte crawl and for a good reason. The labor he puts into these projects is given by him without the expectations that he will receive anything in return, except to meet new and old friends for a day of woodworking fun. Please join me in posting the appropriate thank you and your favorite friendly smiley to show our appreciation to an exceptional friend to each and every one of us!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

I think that I'll thank him when it's all over and it's proven that he did a good job.:rotflm: Seriously, as DaveO says " it's like trying to herd cats" and I have to agree. With all of the people that have backed out on him during this crawl it's amazing that it's still happening.

I tip my hat to you Doug.

What? You mean you guys didn't have to pay $15 to attend the shop crawl? Doug - we need to have a little talk tomorrow! :rolf:

I agree, organizing a shop crawl has got to be a major headache. I wouldn't call it herding cats, more like nailing jello to the wall! So yes, let me join Tracy in saying THANK YOU :notworthy::notworthy:

That reminds me, I have a few boxes to spray. Can we do the crawl next week instead?

This'll be my second Doug-a-polliza, and I couldn't be more excited about it.

My hat's off to ya Doug. The charolette crawl was smooth as a hand scraped piece of birds eye maple.

As a herded cat, i say meow!

Thanks to you Doug!!!

Thanks a bunch, Doug!!

Man you are really good at this!

I know it must be somewhat frustrating at times organizing something like this. I am also sure that you are a busy man as it is what with family, work, home maintenance etc, etc. and this one more effort must be pushing the envelope!:BangHead:

You know that is very much appreciated by a whole bunch of folks!:icon_thum:icon_thum

Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This has been the most complicated crawl so far. Here's hoping it goes well. Please remember to bring long pants, boots and eye and ear protection to Scott's sawmill.

Tracy with fall here I think three is enough crawls for 2008. We'll see what next year brings. Western NC...:help::dontknow::icon_scra:eek::eusa_thin:confused_:XXfridge:

I'm looking forward to the shop crawl tomorrow and think all of us owe a great deal of gratitude to Doug for his efforts in being the Ring Master of these great visits. I think it is a tribute to his efforts that folks are coming from Charlotte, Sanford, and even the coast (Trent Mason) and mountains (Me) of NC to participate. Doug, thanks for all you've done ... so far -- I agree with Steve that many of us need to work harder to make the incredible website even better. Part of my goal here this weekend is to gain some insight on what works well with special events like the shop crawls and to take that knowledge back to the mountains and organize some in that area. And Purple Thumb will get his wish (but his shop will be on the first one!)
