I've sufficiently abused my table saw blade by using it way too long. It is quite dull and dangerous...so, I MUST get it sharpened. Does anyone have any suggestions for a local Charlotte area sharpener? Do I need to send it off?

Thanks for your time...

I send mine off to Ridge Carbide because they do an excellent job. That being said, I think you could get away with a local shop too.

Have you cleaned your dull blade? I have always been amazed at the difference cleaning a few microns of spooge off a blade makes. If that doesn't work I've had less than stellar results from Charlotte Saw and do not recommend them. Freud has a new authorized sharpening service in the Wurth location off of N Graham in CLT but no reviews.

Hopefully they can raise the bar a little. I'll probably use them next but I keep getting great deals from Mike Jackson ( http://www.ncwoodworker.net/ppclass/showproduct.php?product=665&cat=9&limit=recent&date=1189902859 ) His prices with shipping have been slightly more than getting a blade sharpened and 2 round trips to Charlotte. The blades from him have been incredible. May want to PM him and see what he has as a replacement for the blade you need sharpened. His inventory fluctuates each week and I imagine this ad is way outdated.

Thanks for the good information. Perhaps I'll try cleaning the blade to get me through my Christmas gifts and then send it back to Ridge Carbide....

i know it aint exactly close to your neck of the woods, but if you find yourself in the western part of the state, i've heard excellent things about asheville's sharpest edge.

good luck.

What kind of blade is it? When I went to find a place to sharpen my Freud, I called them and asked. They have a place in near, or in, Charlotte that uses the same CNC sharpening system that Freud uses in Italy. They were also able to recommend places closer to me (Carbide Saw in High Point). The Greensboro Woodcraft uses them and one of the guys from Carbide Saw works PT at Woodcraft.
