A very simple faceplate project. I purchased a couple table lamps at a garage sale; each needed repairs, and at $2 each the price was ok. First the restored lamp:
Then the turned new base; I turned up the top disk first, then the base, and inset the top about 1/4in into the base. Bored through 1/2" on the faceplate and polished with Johnson's wax:
Both parts were cut from the same piece of scrap board (donated by my volunteer visitor over 2 years ago). You can see why the old base was not worth trying to repair:
Much nicer, and the new base goes nicely with my compute desk.
