I have a Ridgid jointer where the power cord enters the cabinet is clearly showing wear.

I managed to remove the old bushing with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Now, is there a special tool needed to get the new bushing installed?

I cannot seem to be able to squeeze the bushing closed on a new area of the cord to feed in through the cabinet plate.

Thanks Pop-pop! Ordered a pair. (Might only use them once, but they will be at least in my tool arsenal!)

I really don’t like those type of strain reliefs. They should be called Goldie-locks strain reliefs. I know you don’t need a liquid tight fitting, but I think they do a much better job. I think you can get them for about $3.50, but in a quick search on Amazon, it looks like they tend to bundle them. If you happen to be near Oak Ridge, let me know, I have a bunch of them and would be happy to give you one.

I just squeeze them with a pair of pliers on the inside part first to deform the cord then grab the outside part and push in the hole.

I'll often use small vise grips or small channel locks. And yes, as Michael discloses the secret: squeeze the inside first.
