Treated lumber for soundboards?

One thing I always find interesting is how we judge sound quality. Once you have an instrument with clarity, volume and sustain it is entirely subjective. Enough people agree that this is what a really good violin sounds like and if yours doesn't sound the same then it can't be a really good violin...
