Not really a woodworking request , except to burn a little scrap. I'm looking for a fairly clean steel 55 gallon drum that has the top w/ ring on it (barrel top comes off). I'm north of Raleigh/ Durham and thought this would be as good a place as any to start looking.

Thanks

Find someone who works in industry. My bil gets these from time to time. His plant cans/bottles juice so he got these and some of the great 60 gallon plastic with screw lids. Nice for back up water!
Just be mindful of what was in it! A drum that contained anything toxic (dyes, pesticides, etc) , please don't burn in those. You can't 'burn it out' - and if you should the results could be less than desirable.

Try car washes also. Sometimes they get their soaps and wax in barrels. Also trucking companies get oils and fluids in them. Steve

Some where here there are two drums. One with removable lid, and the other isn't. But I have a "drum opener" , if I can remember where I put it. It's a "GIANT can opener for drums. Bruce
