To make the 7foot poster bed I needed a bigger lathe... to make this lathe I need a steam box..go figure...
Looking around for a steam box design. I saw Mike Dunbars PVC method and was ready to go but started to wonder what leaches out of PVC at 212F as it softens. I have read CPVC has a higher temp rating but don't know if thats much better or available.
I think I will just make a wooden box and be done with it. Planning to bend an overhead "bow" for this 7foot "spring pole" lathe I am working on.Will use a bow instead of a spring pole mounted over head.
Plan to use kiln dried ash as I have no 7foot green stuff. ...crack?
Any thoughts or wisdom for me?
