I pulled these from a log building near me.

They don't look hand forged. Anyone know how to date them?

I found them in a store near me within the last few years. I think they are still around. I've pulled many from the walls and floors in my 55 year old house and thought they meant that area was part of the older parts of the house. But then I saw them in the store.

They still make them and they are actually better than wire nails. Also less splitting of the wood.

That’s not uncommon at all. Yes they still make them. Mostly what you see in the borgs and or hardware stores are hardened for masonry work. But the old cut nails for woodworking and carpentry are still available. They do hold better than most wire nails and have their place. Tremont nail company manufacturers and sells them. They have a web presence just type in the name of any web browser it’ll come up.
