I don't know what the author did but I suppose you would need to temper it somehow. I guess if you were to build it you could vent it inside if you prefer.

I built a finishing room in my shop but probably bigger than you want. Mine is 20 ft or so long so I can fit a car into it. I didn't want to pay what commercial paint booths cost so I winged it on my own. I bought a variable speed exhaust fan with explosion proof motor and mounted it on the wall through shutters. The fan enclosure holds HVAC filters to keep too much paint from getting on the fan but I don't always put them in if it is just a small job. Entrance air is through a bank of filters in the opposite end of the room. I also installed vapor proof LEDs on walls and ceiling.

I just spray outside.
Only negative is a delay when it rains or being brave when it is cold.

The requirements for a PROPER balanced air draft spray booth and the conditioning of the replacement air is simply not in my budget, see link below.
