Spindle Or Hand Sand?

I am working on a table with curved skirts (no, I am not wearing the skirts). After running the pieces by the spindle sander, I still have a few bumps to flatten (may not be noticeable in the pics).

Would you touchup using the spindle sander or sandpaper attached to a curved piece of scrap?

I don’t loan tools but you are welcome to come use it in my shop.

You could cut a curved piece of wood to match your project and glue some sandpaper to it, but you will have the same problem. Getting the right curve and getting it smooth will take some extra effort.

Well, I don't need a new tool (said no woodworker, ever).

Generally if I am trying to make curved parts that need to be identical I make a template from 1/4 or 1/2 MDF and then use a router with a bearing guided trim bit. Much easier to shape the MDF template once than multiple thick pieces.
