uh, oh....

Whoa.

I had no idea you could do that. That's really scary -- now I'm more paranoid than ever! 8-[

Now I know next time I post something stupid, I'll just blame it on the moderator!!!

Seriously, I'm happy to contribute, but my life story is not nearly as interesting as most here. I was born and raised in The South (ie, South Carolina). My LOML is from my home town as well. In fact, we started dating in high school. We've been married now 13 years, and we've managed to accumulate four children along the way (including the twin boys you see in that pic I posted a few days back). We decided we wanted to move "up north", and so here we are!!! Two years ago I took a job here in Hickory, and we've been happy here so far. It took us a while to get used to snow, but luckily we haven't had too much so far.

Anyway, I guess I've pretty much had a life-long interest in woodworking. I had an uncle who taught shop in a vocational school near my home town. He was an excellent carpenter, IMHO. I worked with him on a number of residential construction projects in my younger years -- sort of advanced "DIY". I can remember being fascinated by the tools and the wood and the knowledge and skill that it took to build something "right". Back then I was just trying to learn to cut a straight line and drive a nail without bending it (I guess that's why I think my avatar is funny); he was trying to teach me things like how to use a carpenter's square -- pretty cool.

Up until my recent move I maintained my interest in woodworking, but I did not really have the room, resources or time for a real shop. Now I have the room (sort of) and some resources, but not the time. Oh well, two out of three ain't bad! I've been trying to "set up shop" in my basement for a while now. In the process I hope to accumulate the tools I need, and dust off my long-lost woodworking skills to eventually build something worthwhile. It turns out that I've stumbled into an area where I am literally surrounded by people with unbelievable woodworking skills - people who actually make high-end furniture and create incredible works of art on the lathe.

My other interests include photography. Actually, I don't claim to be very good at that. I'm still just accumulating camera gear here and there. I've dabbled in computer hardware & software. I've built every PC I've owned ever since I bought my first Packard-Bell back in the days of floppy-swapping. I also did some programming while I was in school. Due to time constraints, it seemed about the only time I could get any serious coding done was about 1:00 - 4:00 am.... "insomniac" is just a nick I used back then when I lurked on some coding forums.

So, there ya go. That's the most that's ever been written about me.

Just curious, where in SC? Because Augusta, GA, where I spent some of my formarive years was just across the river.

Whoa.

I want you know that making the post as I did was wrong of me and I apologize. Please click on Apology

I just noticed you asked a question. I have lived in Florence and Charleston before moving here.

Steve,

Looks like you "outted" Insomniac :? I'm terrified not to post now, just give me a day or so to make--'errr, write something up

Oh yeah, I put your avatar on a porn site O:)

Insomniac,

Easy to deduce you interest in photography, especially with the avatar.
Sorry 'bout the Florence thing  , though Charleston is pretty cool. Recently I went through Florence and it had changed from a somewhat sleepy town into one big strip mall.

Great news about reviving your woodworking skills. I could sure use some good advice, especially about what to do with a 40 hp router

We would like to see some of your photography. I'll post a couple if you will. Check out Shop Pets later on.

Why not,
Roger

Roger

Not sure your talking about operator error or something wrong in Gallery. If a problem, let me know so I can fix it.

Thanks,
Steve

OK, time to come clean. That avatar is actually borrowed... er ... acquired... OK -- STOLEN from despair.com. One of my favorites! Here's a link:

INCOMPETENCE: When you earnestly believe that you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

We would like to see some of your photography.

Like I said, I really don't feel that my photography is all that good. I did enjoy your pics... Most of my 'public' pics are in all my posts here and on Woodnet. The 'War planes' here in the public album are mine, for example. On a personal level, my subjects have primarily been my family:
