Well, since I've not ever thrown up any photos of projects, I figure it's time to rectify this.

First off is my last project at the NC Maritime Museum (which is actually where most of these were done).
It's a US Lifesaving Service surf boat and wagon. I did very little work with the actual boat, but I did redraft the plans and I drafted the plans for the wagon. John Coffman, John Vang and I built the wagon, with John C. and I doing the blacksmithing.

I never did get around to getting photos of the finished thing; I wound up moving.

Other projects included a WWII LCVP (Higgins Boat)

This how she looked when she came in:

And when she left:

The boat is solid Honduran mahogany. If you look at the planks on the transom:

If you look closely, you can see that a couple of the planks are three feet wide!

Other projects include several models:

SMS Adler, an Austrian torpedo boat in 1:100 scale. The base board is my favourite wood, teak. I used to get it for free from Jarrett Bay. This photo was taken where I went to college, the best view of any school in the state.

DSCF1171.JPG

I also do a lot of small work. Austrian WWI-era cruiser destroyer in 1:1200 scale for wargaming.

So, now I've truly introduced m'self.

John.

John, those are great - thanks for sharing.

On a side note, I've got some 8/4 QSWO still in log form for y'all...

John,

That's fascinating and interesting work recreating pieces of NC history. I've visited many of the NC Lifesaving Stations along the Outer Banks and may have seen some of your work.

My son-in-law is a Rollinson from Hatteras. Two family members were assistant keepers at Hatteras Lighthouse.

William G. Rollinson 1905-1906

I'm going to do some genealogy research for him.

Sadly, I no longer volunteer there. However, if you were to get up with William Prentice, I'm sure he'd be happy to accept the donation.

Bill and I have been in touch. The log was actually donated to the museum, and they worked a trade with me to pick it up and mill it for them in exchange for some of the boards.

Can y'all see a trend here? I figure that since my ship and boat models are made of wood, then they count as wood working? Correct me if I'm wrong.

This particular model is an N (1:160) scale North Carolina motor shad boat. The foam square is one inch square
