I had some small pieces of 8/4 walnut and maple, so I drew a basic design and hogged out the waste with router and mortice bit. Took the finished piece to the bandsaw to cut to size. It's all freehand work. Finished with 3 coats of clear Polycrylic. Each piece is 9-10 inches at the longest point.

Re: Smal trays

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you meant "Snail trays." A very nice and creative tray, Neal.

Re: Smal trays

Nicely done. So they're about 2" high on the outside and how deep on the inside? Elliptical or oval?

What'll you folks use them for?

Re: Smal trays

Actually, they are more 6/4 than 8/4, and about an inch deep on the inside. more oval-ish, i tried to not have the long sides parallel with each other.

We'll put small bottles of essential oils (each holds 15ml) in one of them, may change, or keys, may go into the other, no hardest plans at this point.

Re: Smal trays

Great use of pieces. Those look really nice. And stovetop safe, I see. :)
