Some maple, spalted and ambrosia (made?, middle two)...

The smaller 3 are 8" to 8-1/4" X ~3, the larger one (bottom) is near 10" X 3-1/2". All flare out and (popcorn) curl in at the rim. Finish is two grits of Yorkshire grit and Mothers Carnauba wax.

C&C welcomed
Thanks and please keep looking.

Smaller one matches the maple bowls in the OP in size. The larger one is around 10" dia. Yorkshire grit and Mother's wax on the small one and Mahoney's oil on the large one. Great color contrasts on the large one, I think.

Thanks and keep looking

And, then the ice broke!!!!:mad::mad:

Elm, translucently thin side wall, so I cut it in half. ~8" X 3". And now you can see what I mean by flared and (popcorn) curled at the rim.

Didn't realize how much fun it is to cut a bowl in half to check your work.

As always C&C welcomed.
Working on a 13" X 8" piece of sycamore. Coming in a future post.
Thanks for looking.

Pretty cool to get a "real" glimpse "inside" LOL
I know Raffan used to suggest this and to paint shapes black, to learn shape and transition rather than letting the wood distract you in evaluating...

You might want to think about a thickness gauge, or stop once in a while to do a finger pinch test. Bowl calipers or a Thompson Gage'T are very useful.

It could also help prevent injury. Launching a broken piece at a couple thousand rpm can get pretty exciting!

Matt,
Thanks. All those suggestions are in the "tool bag" I use daily. FWIW, this bowl got paper thin in sanding. I'll leave it at that. No excuses. Just trying for perfection.
