I have an inkling to build a shuffleboard table and was wondering if anyone has built one, or if anyone has ever purchased a maple bench top from Grizzly.

The maple table top from Grizzly could be easily ripped down to size, but I don't know if it is planed flat enough already, or if there are too many voids. I would love some input.
Here is a link to the top that I am thinking of using.

Building the case around the top is not too much of a challenge, and overall this seems to be any easy way to have a ready made table.
Thanks for any advice.

I heavily considered buying one of the bench slabs before I started on my bench. From what I have seen elsewhere these seem to be of good quality and are definitively flat. There were two reasons I decided not to go this route. One, the use finger jointed boards to get the total length and I wanted full length boards more for aesthetics than anything else. Second, it does have some knots and is not necessarily clear wood. My understanding are all of the knots/etc are solid and structurally strong, but it just wasn't what I wanted for my bench.
