Kent Adams had a tread going about needing a large planer for a bench he was building, it devolved Into a twin screw bench vise and in response to my thoughts he asked for more pictures of my bench. So I took a couple pic's (after oiling it down a la' Mr. Universe) and thought I'd share them and ask to see more. Can't get enough shop porn!
This bench began as a butcher block island in a Kitchen we remodeled when we moved to Scottsdale. Was able to scrounge a bunch of #1 common cherry and walnut that was sitting in a field baking under the Arizona sun.
Kent was interested in the vise which I advised not to put on the face but on the end.
I've got two rows of Dog holes so I can work both sides of the bench or 'clamp' a large project using four points. Also can spread a board between the back dogs to use as a stop. The round dogs in the vise have a door hinge pin in them so that I can push up the dog cause my fingers ain't long enough.
So lets see some more!
