ok, my new shop space is ready for action. i've posted a bunch of pics, but i didn't make a new category until after i'd posted them. is there any way to move them to the new category? i still need to make a router table, outfeed table, cart for mitre saw, assembly table, etc., etc. but i'm getting to it as fast as humanly possible. thanks for looking.

Phillip,

I think that "Shop Space" is definitely an understatement!!!!! That is an awesome space!!! I think that a newbie like myself would get lost as soon as I turn the corner at that fine lookin' jointer and lathe!8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O

When all is out in its place, your shop will be one fine woodworkers paradise.

Congratulations!

Phillip,

Nice shop! I'm guessing by the exit sign and what appears to be a sprinkler system, that ain't your basement.
I know you are a pro in your day job, did you open your own place?

i'm lucky to have the space for sure, its about 18' x 50' plus a small storage room and a small bathroom at the far end of the shop. the only drawback is a lack of natural light though i'm adding more fixtures and replacing bulbs and tubes with color corrected ones.

SteveD, i've still got my day job doing millwork. this is a serious night/weekend thing for me. keeping my regular job allows to me to pick and choose the kind of work i want to do here, another luxury. still, the shop needs to be self supporting within 3-4 months. i've got several turning jobs lined up and i wouldn't mind teaching a little as well. i've already had my first "student" (a guy from work) come in and start turning bowls. i've already been there for a couple of hours this morning, its definitely my home away from work.

Hmm, 18x50. During college I lived in a trailer smaller than that 8-O

Apparently the bicycle is for getting around the shop

Congratulations on your progress.:icon_thum

Phillip, there are still unclaimed fixtures from my store's remodel. 4X4 eight lamp fixtures, currently wired for 277, but I have been told by experts on this forum, that simply replacing the ballast with one appropriate for how your shop is wired should be an easy enough operation.
