Shop Cabinets

So I just finished making cabinets for the shop area of my garage. This is my second attempt at making cabinets and the first attempt at frameless and built in cabinets. I wanted to take a practice run at making cabinets for the kitchen in response to my wife's not so subtle hints. I am thrilled with the storage options that this has opened up and as with every new project, there were tons of mistakes made and lessons learned in the process.

These cabinets replace a very old 1/2" plywood and 2x4" stack of "shelves" that were there when I bought the house.

Surprising how much more usable they can be when you are doing it yourself. Careful design of drawer depth and enough of them does wonders.

Nicely done and better organized.

What are the 2 wood species that you used?

Birch Veneer Plywood for the drawer fronts and doors. Top was just sanded pine plywood. Trimmed in Red Oak. I tried to keep the cost down on materials since they are just shop cabinets. The stretchers are dadoed and rabbetted into the cabinet sides. Helped tremendously with accuracy during assembly.

In the process of applying multiple layers of oil based poly and then Johnson Paste Wax after curing is completed.

P.S...... This was the first project that I used my Shop Fox track saw on. What a world of difference it made cutting 4'x8' sheet goods on the floor and with surprising accuracy.

Nicely done and a well organized shop--I've been sitting here this morning trying to visualize how to fit in the new scroll saw I have coming, alo.ng with a new router table build and sanding center; there just ain't enough room!!!!
