:-? OK..probably a very simple question here...but..I picked up a can of 3# cut amber shellac. I want to try applying it as 1# cut. Obviously, I take 2 parts denatured alcohol and 1 part shellac. My question is...How do I do this without making a complete mess. Can anyone pls give any advice on what to use to measure/pour/store/etc. Thx!

Personally, I have just started using shellac. I went to the grocery store and bought mason (canning) jars. A case of 12 1 pint jars was less than $10. So, get a funnel or pour spout and mix it from there. As far as measuring, just mark the jar in half with a sharpie. On pouring, you could use a ladle from the kitchen (wouldn't use it in the kitchen again), or get some of the plastic rims they sell at Lowes and HD to make it easier to pour.

You can use one of the cheap mixing containers the borgs have in their paint departments. They have the measurments right on the side and are easy to pour out of. For storage you can use plastic or glass but make sure that you can seal it up pretty well.
